Melissa Odom Founder/Educational Consultant and Guide
"Teachers change the world one child at a time,” is a quote found on a plaque my father first gave me when I entered the teaching profession-a quote that still inspires me to guide student's to achieve academic success. Originally from Buffalo, New York, I have always dreamed of being an educator. That dream became a reality when I entered the education profession 17 years ago. After finishing my education degree, this journey began in a 2nd grade classroom located in Northern Virginia. It continued as I took on the role of Special Education Teacher and received a masters in literacy. After moving to Atlanta, it took shape as I began teaching at Hawthorne Elementary in DeKalb County as an Interrelated Teacher. Throughout this time, I have had the opportunity to assist students in achieving academic success through a learning center and private tutoring environments. I have also served in leadership roles as a mentor, presenter, and advisory committee member. In these roles, I emphasized educational practices that motivate and engage student learning. This dream continues to today as I open Tutor Wise!
Tutor Wise is a Forsyth county tutoring company that brings learning experiences full of growth, laughter, and fun. It is my goal to actively listen to your concerns and desires for your child’s education while maintaining communication with your child’s educators about his or her current performance. Through this ongoing dialogue, your child will have the opportunity to not only grow intellectually, but socially and emotionally.
I look forward to embarking on this educational journey with both you, and your child-a journey where he or she will begin to understand that academic success can be achieved through meaningful experiences connected with everyday life.
